START A BUSINESS JUST LIKE THESE INSPIRATIONAL KIDS!
Sure, Lemonade Day is a motivating event for all the kids who participate, but how can we continue inspiring you to reach for the highest heights?
This week, we’re highlighting kids who are getting a head start on success. The good news? YOU can, too! We challenge you to step up and start something all your own, just like these young entrepreneurs:
m3 Girl Designs
At 10 years old, Maddie Bradshaw used her own money to turn bottle caps into interchangeable magnetic SNAP CAPS® necklaces. Today at 16, she and her 12-year-old sister co-own the multi-million-dollar business m3 Girl Designs. They currently have nine SNAP CAPS® collections, as well as accessories. We recommend you check out Maddie’s book, You Can Start a Business, Too! You just might learn what you need to start your own company!
Bee Sweet™ Lemonade
Four-year-old Mikaila Ulmer loved her grandma’s delicious lemonade recipe. She also developed a fondness for honeybees and wanted to help them (even after being stung twice!). She entered Grandma’s lemonade into two competitions, including Austin’s Lemonade Day. Five years later, her flaxseed lemonade is being sold in Austin restaurants, grocery stores and retail shops. Best of all, Mikaila donates 20 percent of her profits to organizations dedicated to saving bees.
Kid President
Robby Novak uses his natural gift—his charming personality—to spread cheer to viewers of his videos. Despite the fact that Robby has a condition that causes his bones to break frequently, he continues to talk and dance his way into the hearts of fans all over the world, creating a brand for himself and raising money in the process. The 10-year-old boy and his brother-in-law make the videos together, some of which have millions of views. He uses his popularity to help all kinds of charities; one time he turned October into #socktober, a kid-led initiative that provides socks to homeless people.
You!
What inspires you? What or who do you love? What change do you want to see in the world? Here are some things to think about to get your ideas flowing:
Think of a challenge or something you want.
Maddie wanted magnets for her locker.
Mikaila wanted to submit a unique lemonade brand in competitions.
Robby wanted to make a difference in people’s lives.
Think of your particular strengths.
Maddie is artistic.
Mikaila had a great recipe on her hands.
Robby has a positive attitude and a brother-in-law with a video camera.
Think of ways to mix your wants with your strengths.
Maddie used her artistic abilities to create magnetic bottle caps.
Mikaila used her grandma’s delicious recipe to win the competitions.
Robby used his charisma to make a difference in people’s lives.
Please let us know what you decide to do. Make it a goal to get everything started by the end of this summer. Good luck!
