Kids, when you’re ready to donate part of your earnings from Lemonade Day, the choice is all yours! We encourage you to think about causes you care about (such as animals, the planet, the homeless, the hungry, those affected by natural disasters, etc.) before you make a decision. Try writing down some ideas and find charities that promote your cause.

Here are a few ideas based on what other Lemonade Day participants have donated to in the past:

The Family Place

If you’re interested in helping victims of family violence, this agency is a great choice. The Family Place provides shelter, counseling and skills training to victims of domestic violence. It provides free services to thousands of clients in both Spanish and English.

Texas Beekeepers Association

Bees are more important than most people realize, as they play a major role in helping to produce many of the plants and trees that give us food. Unfortunately, bees are starting to disappear, which makes beekeepers even more essential.

If you’d like to help beekeepers in your area do everything they can to sustain the honeybee population, consider donating to the Texas Beekeepers Association. There’s a Dallas chapter called the Trinity Valley Beekeepers Association that serves our community. Donate to the scholarship fund and enable young people to pursue beekeeping as a hobby or career.

Heifer International

While there’s no local chapter for this organization, this charity has a global reach, helping people all over the world receive sustainable income. Instead of giving people in need a one-time handout, beneficiaries receive a gift they can use to make a living. By donating animals that provide milk, eggs and honey, you are doing your part to end world hunger and poverty.

But there is more to it than donating a cow. You can also support programs that improve the lives of women in the classroom, at work and within their communities. Other Ideas for Donations

Other kids have donated to groups and individuals in their own communities. Think about churches, parks and community centers that may need financial assistance. One kid even donated to a friend who had to move to Mexico, and one gave back to the Lemonade Day organization so other participants could learn business skills, too. The choices are unlimited!
